As a highly passionate qualified Secondary teacher of languages and a linguist, I am very enthusiastic about seeing my students reach their optimum potential in their chosen language and thoroughly enjoy teaching. My vast teaching experience, spans 25 years and I have taught in a broad range of secondary schools in Dublin in addition to two years teaching French and English at secondary level (to AS level and B2 French) in Valencia, Spain. Furthermore, I lived in France for 10 years (Lyon & Paris), where I began as an assistant in a private school in La Roche sur Foron in Haute Savoie and subsequently taught in language schools in Lyon and Paris.
My approach to teaching is learner based and I always carefully adapt my lessons to suit each student's unique learner needs and learner style. Moreover, I help students engage with active methodologies and empower them with learning strategies to consolidate their newly acquired skills so that their progress is perceptible. This has helped maintain motivation among students and feedback and results have been really positive from the countless students I have taught and tutored over the years.
QUESTIONS YOU MAY HAVE AS A TUTEE.
Will my lessons be structured?
After an initial level test (set by the tutor), I will devise a specific course to meet your learner needs over a course of 10 one-one lessons. It will enable you to progress at your pace but also engage and challenge you in order to build on your language learning in a real way. The lessons are in blocks of 10. Every 3rd ,6th and 9th will involve a short consolidation/revision of what we have covered as an integral part of your learning and you will receive relevant motivational exercises to practise and feedback will be provided via email. Please note the classes can be postponed (and saved) with reasonable notice and I will always try to accommodate with a suitable alternative time slot.
Note:
Studies have shown that when students know how marks are allocated and what is expected they do far better!
